Pudorosa kauluri / Pudorosa Neck warmer

Minä halusin kaulurin ja päädyin valitsemaan malliksi Pudorosan. Koska halusin kaulurin, joka on helmasta laajempi, niin lisäsin sinne 32 kerrosta #311 mallineuletta 1000 Knitting Patterns -kirjasta. Tosin muokkasin sitä jonkus verran, eli tein ensin kerrokset 17-32 ja sen jälkeen 1-16 ja lisäsin sinne ylimääräisiä kavennuksia, jotta sain kavennettua aloituksen 249 silmukkaa Pudorosan vaatimaan reiluun 150 silmukkaan.

Sitten jatkoin Pudorosan ohjeella, mutta vähensin napinreikien määrää. Ja tein yhden ylimääräisen kavennuskerroksen, koska kaulaosa oli liian leveä minulle. Muokkasin kaulaosaa myös siten, että tein siihen picot-kerroksen ja sen jälkeen jatkoin tekemällä vähän suoraa ja sitten 2o2n-resoria - tein siis kaksinkertaisen kauluksen.

Tein tästä koko jutusta kaavion, mutta en tiedä, miten minun pitäisi siihen suhtautua. Voinko julkaista sen vaiko enkö, koska se niin vahvasti rakentuu Pudorosa-mallin ympärille?

Mutta joo, tässä kuva pingottamattomasta ryppykasasta:



I wanted to have a neck warmer and decided to knit Pudorosa. However, I wanted to have larger hem and due to that I knitted pattern #311 from 1000 Knitting Patterns –book. Pattern contains 32 rows, but I knitted the rows 17-32 first and after that I knitted the rows 1-16. Since I casted on 249 stitches I made some additional decreases to be able to reduce the amount to app. 150 stitches which are needed in Pudorosa.

Then I continued with Pudorosa instructions, but I made less buttonholes. I also had one additional decrease row, since the neck was too wide for me. Instead of binding off with picots I knitted a picot-row and continued with few rows of stockinette and after that with K2, P2 rib; I made a double collar.

I made a chart about this whole thing, but I am not sure whether I can publish it, since it is actually just a modification of Pudorosa.

Lanka on ehkä himppasen liian kirjavaa tälle mallille, mutta halusin saada jotain värikästä ja toisaalta en halunnut ostaa tätä kokeilua varten erikseen lankaa.

The yarn is a bit too colorful for this pattern, but actually I wanted to have something colorful and on the other hand I did want to buy yarn for this experiment.

Joulukortteja / Christmas cards

Tässäpä tämän vuoden joulukorttimalli. Idean sain Heidi Ignatiuksen Muista kortilla! -kirjasta. Tosin muutin värityksen ja koristukset kokonaan, mutta idea neliöistä ja nauhasta tuli käyttöön.

Lähetän kaikille samanlaiset kortit, joten näitä tuli tehtyä enemmän kuin kuvassa näkyvät neljä. :D



I made some Christmas cards for this season. I got the idea from Heidi Ignatius' Muista kortilla! -book. However, I changed the colors used as well as decoration, but I used the idea of squares and ribbon.

I always send similar cards for everybody, so I made a bit more than 4 cards seen in the picture.

Kämmekkäät / Wrist warmers

Minä sain Lapinitalta lahjaksi Nuntin kämmekäsohjeen. Ja tulikin tarpeeseen. :D Minulla on sellainen viittatakki ja siinä käy helposti niin, että mustan viitan reunan ja mustien hanskojen välistä näkyy vaihtoehtoisesti paljasta nahkaa tai ties minkä värisen puseron hiha. Minulla on ennestäänkin ollut sellaiset ranteenlämmittimet, mutta ne rupeaa olemaan jo hieman entiset.

Tein nämä ohuemmasta langasta kuin ohjeessa suositellaan, käytin Wollmeisen mustaa twiniä. Ja koska lanka oli ohuempi, niin oli myös puikot. Siitä sitten seurasi se, että muokkailin vähän silmukkamääriä. Varressa on 8 silmukan verran enemmän resoria kuin ohjeessa, mutta sitten käsiosassa piti hieman pienennellä, kun minulla on varsin pieni käsi. Tein kuitenkin käsiosasta tarkoituksella niin suuren, että sinne menee ne nahkahanskat alle sujuvasti. Ja koska näiden tarkoitus on peittää ne puseron hihat, niin tein kämmekkäistä ekstrapitkät, ovat kyynärtaipeeseen asti.

Lapinita gave me Nunt’s Cabled Wristwarmers instructions as a gift, which was a useful gift. :D I have a cape coat and every now and then (read: always) you can see either my bare skin or what-ever-colored blouse etc. sleeves between the black cape coat’s “sleeves” and black gloves. I have old pair of wrist warmers, but you can see those are old.

I used lighter weight yarn than recommended; Wollmeise Sockenwolle 80/20 Twin and of course I used smaller needles as well. Due to that I had to change the stitch amounts a bit, I have 8 additional stitches on the rib. On the other hand, I have a small hand and I had to make some changes due to that. However, the hand area is big enough; I can use gloves under my wrist warmers. Since I want to cover the area mentioned earlier I knitted really long wrist warmers; these cover my whole forearm.

ZenGoddess Lace Club - September

Ja tämmöinen oli pitsiklubin viimeinen lähetys. Paketissa oli 1200 jaardia Zen Yarn Gardenin Serenity Lace -lankaa, väri vaaleansinisen kirjava Arnemetia. Paketissa oli samanniminen huiviohje ja lisäksi huivineula.

This was the last delivery of lace club. It contained 1200 yds Zen Yarn Garden's Serenity Lace -yarn, the color is light blue called Arnemetia. Of course there was also a pattern for Arnemetia-shawl and in addition to that a shawl pin.

Kaaospeitto / Knitted Blanket

Pyörittelin niitä löytämiäni Venla-lankoja käsissäni ja silmiini muotoutui kuva puna-mustasta peitosta. Ja eihän minulla mitään punaista lankaa ollut, joten ensin piti mennä kauppaan ostamaan Novitan Isoveli lankaa punaisena.

When I looked at the Venla yarns I found few days ago I started to think about knitted blanket with some red and black. Unfortunately I did not have any red yarn so I had to go and buy some Novita Isoveli yarn in red.



Ja sitten vaan kaaospeittoa tekemään.

After that I started to knit Kaaospeitto.



Mitä enemmän sitä katselen, sitä enemmän minua rupeaa kiehtomaan tuo työn nurja puoli.

It is quite interesting; I realized I might prefer the wrong side of the blanket more than the right side.

Lisää ullakon aarteita / Some more treasures found

No, siivousurakka ullakolla jatkuu ja sieltä löytyi melkein 900 grammaa mustaa Novitan Venla-lankaa. Eikä niin harmainta haisua, että miksi ja milloin minä ne olen hankkinut - veikkaisin, että siitä on aikas monta vuotta aikaa.

I have been organizing all the closets upstairs and I found almost 900 grams black Novita Venla yarn. I do not have slightest idea when and why I have bought those, but I guess it has happened quite a many years ago.



Sieltä löytyi kaikkea muutakin sekalaista, mutta lajittelin langat laatikoihin ja vein ne yhdelle tanssitunnille tarjolle. Kerroin siis porukalle etukäteen, että olisi lankoja tarjolla ensi tunnilla ja niitä saa viedä, kuka haluaa. Osa langoista meni yksityiskäyttöön, mutta osa meni päiväkotiin jne. Vielä on vähän sekalaisia jäljellä - ne varmaankin vien yhteen toiseen päiväkotiin.

There were some other yarns as well and I sorted those to boxes and took those boxes with me when I joined my weekly dance lesson. I had told beforehand I will bring some yarns with me and whoever can take those free of charge. Some of the people wanted to have yarns for themselves and one took yarns for day nursery etc. I still have some yarns left; I am going to deliver those to another day nursery.

Polvisukat 3 / Knee Socks 3

Taas se tyypillinen tarina, teen jotakin ja valmiista työstä kuvien ottaminen onkin sitten se, mikä vie aikaa. Sukat valmistuivat noin kuukausi sitten, mutta eilen sain napsittua kuvia.

Sukat ovat taas ns. oman mallin mukaan tehdyt, mutta kuvio on otettu Uhoavan Gnun blogista löytyvästä Kerttu-sukan ohjeesta. Tosin kuvio on minun sukissani ylösalaisin, koska Kerttu-sukat aloitetaan varresta ja minä aloitin sukkani kärjestä. Varren resoriin neuloin sisäpuolelle lankalenkkejä, joihin pujotin ohuen silikonikuminauhan.



It seems I am again in the same situation; I have finished the socks already one month ago, but I just have not taken pictures until yesterday.

I knitted the socks as I usually do, but I used the pattern described in Kerttu socks instructions, which you can find from Uhoavan Gnu's blog. Though the pattern is upside down since I started my socks from toe instead of cuff. When knitting the rib I created some loops for the silicone elastic.



Lankana Wollmeise Sockenwollen 80/20 Twin, Fliederbusch ja sitä menikin sit se koko vyyhti ja resoriin käytin samaa lankaa mustana. Haluan, että mun sukkani ulottuvat kunnolla polveen saakka ja ajattelin, että eipä se hameen/housujen alta näy, jos siellä onkin vähän eriväristä lankaa lopussa.

I used the whole skein of Wollmeise Sockenwollen 80/20 Twin, color: Fliederbusch and for the rib I used the same yarn in black. I like socks which really are knee high and I thought it does not matter if there is another color, no one can see it under my skirt/trouses.

Peflettejä?

Virkkasin 2 jättisuurta 40 cm x 40 cm pannulappua ja julistin ne pefleteiksi. Koska sinistä lankaa löytyi se yllätyskerä ja valkoista oli rippunen, niin virkkasin yhden 34 cm x 34 cm pannulapun ja julistin sen, ööh, pieneksi käsipyyhkeeksi.

Olen toiveikas, että valkoista tai sinistä puuvillalankaa ei enää tupsahda mistään.



I crocheted two BIG potholders (size 40 cm x 40 cm) and named those as seatcovers. In Finland we use those in sauna. Since I found one additional "surprise" skein of blue and still had some white I crocheted on 34 cm x 34 cm pot holder and named that as <...thinking...> a small hand towel.

I hope I have used all the white and blue cotton now.

Hexagon matto / carpet

Jämälankojen tuhoaminen jatkuu. Tein toisenkin kylppäriin käyvän maton, tällä kertaa hexagoneista. Kuvittelin sinisen langan loppuneen ja sen vuoksi tein muutaman valkoisen hexagonin reunoihin. No, kun sain maton valmiiksi, löysin kaappeja kolutessani vielä yhden kerän sinistä. Tyypillistä. Jämälankojen tuhoaminen jatkuu edelleeen.

I still have these leftover projects, since I want to "clean" my stash. I crocheted another carpet, which we can use in our bathroom, this time I used hexagon-pattern. I thought I run out of blue yarn and due to that I crocheted some white hexagons in the corners. Of course, I found one additional blue skein AFTER I had finished the carpet already. So typical. I have to continue with these leftover projects.

Lankoja / Yarns

On taas kertynyt muutamat klubilangat, joita ei ole tullut raportoitua tänne. Ensin vaikkapa ZenGoddess Lace Clubin heinäkuun ja elokuun lähetykset.

Heinäkuun lähetyksessä oli GoddessKnitsin ohje pienehköön huiviin nimeltä Hathor ja siihen sopiva keltainen lanka, joka oli Zen Yarn Gardenin Serenity 20. Langan väri on myös nimeltään Hathor. Paketissa oli myös huiviin tarvittavat helmet, sellaisia pieniä punertavia.

I have received few club yarn deliveries, which I have not reported here. Here are the ZenGoddess Lace Club's July and August deliveries.

July's delivery contained GoddessKnit's pattern for a shawlette called Hathor and Zen Yarn Garden's Serenity 20 yarn, which yellow color is called Hathor as well. There were also the small, kind of red beads needed for the shawlette.



Sitten saman klubin elokuun paketti; siinä paketissa oli ohje punaiseen Venus kauluriin. Ja tietenkin lanka, jonka punainen väri oli myöskin nimeltään Venus, tällä kertaa Zen Yarn Gardenin Serenity Sock -lankaa. Paketista löytyi myös kaulukseen tarvittavat 3 nappia.

Then August delivery from the same club; it contained a pattern for red cowl called Venus. Of course the Zen Yarn Garden's Serenity Sock's red color had the same name as well. Package also contained the needed 3 buttons.



Tämän jälkeen hypätäänkin Titityyn Sukkalankaklubiin - elokuun lähetyksessä oli 2 lankaa Punta Yarnsilta. Toinen oli Merisock Space Dyed.

After presenting those packages I change to Titityy's Sock Yarn Club - August delivery contained 2 yarns from Punta Yarns. The other one was Merisock Space Dyed.

Lopuksi pitää vielä kertoa, että jämälankaprojektini vaati vähän lisäapuja kaupasta. Hirveällä kiireellä poikkesin Tampereella avattuun Lankamaailma Nordiaan ja kuvittelin ostavani pari kerää valkoista puuvillalankaa. No, onhan siinä puuvillaa, mutta puolet on akryyliä. :D

I have to share this with you as well. My leftover yarn project required some additional yarn, which I did not have. Due to that I visited the recently opened yarn shop, which is Lankamaailma Nordia's Tampere shop. I was in a hurry and I thought I bought two skeins of cotton yarn. Yes, it contains cotton, but it is 50% acrylic. :D

Catherine Wheel matto / carpet

No, kun nyt vauhtiin pääsin ja koska olin löytänyt noita kummallisia puuvillalankoja, niin rupesinpa tekemään "mattoja". Meillä on suihkukaappi ja tähän saakka siinä kaapin edessä on pidetty pientä pyyhettä, jonka päälle voi märillä jaloilla astua. Vähän sellainen ajatus, että se kylppärin lattia pysyisi kuivana, eikä kastuisi joka suihkussa käynnin yhteydessä. No, senhän tietää, että ne pienet pyyhkeet on aina vähän rullalla ja näyttävät siltä, että joku on laittanut pyyhkeen lattialle.

Tein sitten kohtuu tiukkaa virkaten tuollaisen Catherine Wheel palasen ja se saa luvan toimia mattona. Lankaa meni sellaiset 360 grammaa tuohon 57 cm x 69 cm palaseen, joten taidan tehdä toisenkin maton, mutta ehkä jollain eri kuviolla.



Since I still have crocheting mood on and since I found those weird cotton yarns I decided to crochet some “carpets”. We have shower cubicle and so far I have had a small towel on the floor in front of it. When I (or someone else) step out from the cubicle I (or someone else) can stand on the towel and I (or someone else) do not have to dry the floor after each time someone takes a shower. But I guess you know towel on the floor looks like you have a towel on the floor. Not good.

I crocheted one piece using Catherine Wheel pattern and I used a bit smaller hook to be able to get a tight result. I used app. 360 grams of yarn and the size of the carpet is 57 cm x 69 cm, so, I have some yarn for another carpet as well. Though I guess I will use another pattern.

Jämälankapeitto / Leftover Blanket

Ja vihdoin, pitkästä aikaa jotain valmistakin. Tosin en siitä kauaa ehtinyt iloita, kun kävi niin, että lähisukulainen oli kylässä peiton valmistuttua ja hän ihastui siihen sen verran, että tuli annettua peitto hänelle. Kuvion nimi on Catherine Wheel ja tämä on minusta varsin helppo tapa hukata jämälankoja. Yleensähän minun jämälankaprojektini näyttävät lähinnä oudoilta, mutta tämä näyttää mielestäni ihan asialliselta.

Finally I have something finished instead of WIPs. However, I did not have possibility to enjoy seeing the finished blanket, since one of my closest relatives was visiting my home when I was weaving in the ends. She liked the blanket a lot and due to that I gave it to her. The name of the pattern is Catherine Wheel and I think it was an easy way to get rid of leftover yarns. Usually my leftover projects are more or less weird looking, but in my opinion this is an exception to that “rule”.



Minulla oli jostain syystä varastoissani vanhaa vaaleaa mintunvihreää Novita Vauvalanka vajaa 10 kerää ja tämän lisäksi hyvin sekalainen valikoima erivärisiä nyttyröitä. Jaoin nyttyrät kolmeen pinoon eli yhteen pinoon meni punaiseen vivahtavat sävyt eli punaiset, violetit ja ruskeat. Toiseen pinoon laitoin kaikki sinisen sävyt ja kolmanteen meni kaikki vaaleat eli valkoiset ja keltaiset. Sitten vain raidoitin eli "punainen" raita, "sininen" raita ja "valkoinen" raita ja mintun vihreää joka väliin. Koska vihreitä ja paria muuta oli vielä, kun muut loppui, niin virkkasin reunaan leveän kehyksen kiinteillä silmukoilla ja aivan reunaan tein kerroksen rapuvirkkausta.

For some reason I had several; almost 10 skeins of old, light green Novita Vauvalanka yarn. In addition to this I had lot of leftovers in different colors. I categorized the leftovers to “red”, “blue” and “white”. “Red” ones contained all the red, lilac and brown shades, “blue” ones included turquoise and blue and “white” included all the white and yellow leftovers. Then I just crocheted one pattern using “red”, then “blue” and “white”. In between of those I always made one pattern using that light green. When I had used almost all the yarns I still had quite a lot of green and some blue and white; I crocheted a frame using single crochet stitches and as a last row I made some crab stitches.



Peiton koko on noin 120 cm x 150 cm ja se painaa noin 750 grammaa.

The size of the blanket is app. 120 cm x 150 cm and the weight of it is app. 750 grams.

ZenGoddess Lace Club - May & June

Kertoilinkin jo aiemmin tuosta Lace Clubista, johon liityin. Tuon postauksen jälkeen onkin tullut 2 lähetystä.

I told earlier about the Lace Club I joined. After that post I have received two deliveries.

May's package contained instructions and yarn for socks and small needle case.

Liityin Titityyn sukkalankaklubiin ja valitsin kylmät värit. Pari lähetystä on jo tullut ja lisäksi piti vielä tilatakin vähän lisää.

I joined Titityy's Sock Yarn Club and I selected cold tones. I have already received two packages and in addition to those I ordered some more.

Blue Tulips Pussukka / Blue Tulips Project Bag

Näin joku aika sitten Ravelryn Kaheleissa, kun yksi kaheli oli ostanut tämmöisen pussukan. Kyseinen lammaskangas kolahti ihan täysillä ja lisäksi olin pohdiskellut, että tarvitsisin jostain tukevammasta kankaasta tehdyn projektipussukan, josta ei puikot törkkäisi kankaasta lävitse, koska sellaisesta pussukasta ei pahemmin ole hyötyä.

Pussukka on siis ostettu Etsyn kautta Blue Tulipsilta. Työn jälki on hyvää, pussukka on tehty kaksinkertaisesta kankaasta ja sisällä on sellainen läpinäkyvä sivutasku, jonne voi pistää jotain pientä. Ja mainitaan nyt vielä sekin, että tuo pussinsuun rypistysnaru luistaa sujuvasti eli pussin sulkeminen ja avaaminen on helppoa, mutta se ei kuitenkaan aukene/löysty itsestään.



Some time ago one of the Ravelry's Kahelit introduced a project bag she had bought. The sheep pattern of fabric was something I really liked and I wanted to have a similar kind of project bag immediately. Furthermore, I had thought I need a project bag which can handle needles properly. I have a bag, but it is so thin that the needles punch the fabric and I think you can guess I do not like it. That kind of project bag is quite useless.

I bought this bag from Blue Tulips; she’s selling her bags via Etsy. The bag is good looking, it seems to be carefully done. The fabric is double and inside the bag there is a small transparent notions pocket. I also have to mention the closing mechanism works fine – it is smooth to open and close, but it does not open by itself.

Jämälankapeitto / Leftover Blanket

Nyt taisi löytyä malli, josta saan kohtuu asiallisen näköisen käyttäen noita mun jämälankoja - en minä vielä montaa eri peittoa noista olekaan aloittanut ja purkanut. Saas nähdä, kuinka käy. :D

I think I was finally able to find a pattern which I can use for leftover blanket. The previous frogged attempts have been quite odd. Let's see. :D

SPOILER ALERT: ZenGoddess Lace Club - April

Goddessknits ja Zen Yarn Garden järkkäsivät yhdessä ZenGoddess Lace Clubin. Klubi kestää 6 kuukautta ja siihen kuuluu 6 lähetystä, joissa jokaisessa on Goddessknitsin tekemä malli ohjeineen, ohjeeseen sopiva lanka Zen Yarn Gardenin värjäämänä ja sitten vielä jotain pientä lähetykseen liittyvää. Etukäteen kerrottiin, että projekteina tulee olemaan sukat, hartiahuivi, kaulahuivi, kämmekkäät, kauluri ja pikkuinen hartiahuivi. Täytyi muuten oikein miettiä, että meneekö nuo minun käännökseni oikein. Tarkistakaa tuosta englanninkielisestä pätkästä, jos ihmettelette, mitä puhun. :D Ja tosiaan, lähetys tapahtuu kuukausittain seuraavan 6 kuukauden aikana.

Goddessknits and Zen Yarn Garden organized a ZenGoddss Lace Club. According to their description "Each package you receive will include a complete pattern, enough yarn to complete the project and a little extra gift to be used with the project." They also informed beforehand the projects will include pair of socks, a shawl, a scarf, fingerless mittens, a cowl, and a shawlette.



Tuossa on kuva ensimmäisestä, huhtikuun lähetyksestä. Siinä mielessä hyvä onni, että lähetys sisälsi juuri sen ohjeen ja sen värin, mistä en erityisemmin pitänyt. Niin, minä vaivihkaa kyselin, että millaisia värejä langoissa on luvassa, koska klubi oli kohtuu hintava ja olisi ollut melkoinen pettymys saada kasa lankoja väreissä, joista ei pidä. Nyt tuli ensimmäiseksi ohje, josta en erityisemmin välitä, koska en käytä kämmekkäitä ja ohjeen mukaiset ovat minulle liian isotkin + lanka värissä, josta en erityisemmin välitä, joten loput 5 kuukautta tulevat olemaan lupaavampia. Tosin siellä on luvassa toinenkin väri, josta en ehkä pidä, mutta katsotaan. Niin, en minäkään niitä värejä tarkkaan tiedä muuta kuin tasolla "kullanvärinen", joten kyllä minullakin jonkun sortin yllätysmomentti säilyi. Heh, tätä en aio kertoa englanniksi... :D. Niin paketissa oli Athena-kämmekkäiden ohje, kullanvärista Zen Yarn Garden's Superwash sukkalankaa ja 2 Heartstone Ceramics'n nappia

Here is a picture about the first delivery, which contains pattern for fingerless mittens called Athena, golden Zen Yarn Garden's Superwash Sock Yarn and 2 buttons made by Heartstone Ceramics. Most propably I will not make this project, since I do not use fingerless mittens and it seems the size is quite large. In addition to that the color is not the best possible for me. However, it was informed already in the beginning there will be fingerless mittens, so I am not dissapointed in that sense. I guess, I can use the yarn for other project or give those - either pattern & yarn or perhaps finished project as a gift. Let's see.

Portugalilainen neulonta / Portuguese Knitting

Ravelryssa Finnish Knitters -ryhmässä eräs ravelryläinen aloitti keskustelun portugalilaisesta neulontatyylistä ja hänen viestissään oli linkki Youtube-videoon. Video on englanniksi, mutta siinä näkee hyvin tuo neulonnan. Varsinkin nurjan neulominen vaikutti helpolta.

In Ravelry's Finnish Knitters -group one of the fellow knitters started a thread about portuguese knitting and there was a link to YouTube video. That video is in English and it gives a good picture about the knitting style - especially purling seems to be easy.



Kokeilin tuota nurjan neulomista siten, että lanka kiertää niskan takaa ja totesin, että se ei oikein toimi ja mietin, että sitähän voisi tilata tuollaisen neulan. Neuloja oli kaupan Retrosarialla. Silloin siellä oli vain hopeanvärisiä neuloja, nyt näyttäisi olevan myös kullanvärisiä. Tosin kullanväriset ovat kalliimpia, tuollainen hopeavärinen maksoi 1 €. Kysyin Ravelryssa, josko joku muukin haluaisi neulan eli minä voisin tilata niitä enemmän ja toimittaa eteenpäin, jolloin säästäisimme postituskuluissa. Kuten huonolaatuisesta kännykkäkuvasta näkyy, niin muutama muukin halusi. :D

I tried to purl when the yarn was around my neck, however I did not like that, but thought the knitting pin might be more comfortable. I noticed I could buy the pin from Retrosaria. Then they had "silver" pins, but it seems now they have "golden" pins as well. Those "golden" ones are more expensive though, the price for one silver pin is 1 €. I asked in Ravelry whether someone else would like to have the pin as well, I could order more and then we could split those among ourselves. On that way we could save on shipping costs. As you can see from the picture there were few who wanted to have the pin as well. :D (I took the picture using mobilephone; due to that the quality is not the best possible)

Kerrosmerkkejä / Row Markers

Aina joskus sitä kaipaa kerrosmerkkejä - siis sellaisia merkkejä, jotka voi irrottaa. Tämmöisen tarpeen olen huomannut vaikkapa kärjestä aloitettuja sukkia tehdessäni. Toki voi käyttää langanpätkää, mutta tulipahan mieleeni, että voisihan sitä pari merkkiäkin olla.

Every now and then I need row markers - I mean the ones which you can detach. For example, when knitting the socks from toe those are useful. Of course I could use some leftover yarn, but then I thought I could buy couple of markers instead.

I ordered the row markers from Helmipuikko - I was happy with the service and I got my markers quickly.

Polvisukat 2 / Knee Socks 2

Ja uusi yritys polvisukista. Edelliset ovat hyvät, mutta silti jotain pientä oman ohjeeni parantelun tarvetta havaitsin. Lankana minulla oli Titityyn syksyn 2009 sukkalankaklubista tullut The Knitting Goddess.

Here is my new version of knee socks. I liked the previous ones, but there were some minor details I wanted to correct. I used The Knitting Goddess' yarn, which I received via Titityy's autumn 2009 sockclub.

Jos ihmettelette tuota Wollmeisea, niin se johtuu siitä, että tein sukat, pidin niitä tunnin ja totesin, että sukat ovat sittenkin himppasen liian lyhyet. Koska olin käyttänyt sukkiin jo koko kerän tuota Goddessin lankaa, niin jostain muualta piti keksiä jatkot - tuo WM oli lähinnä sopivaa väriltään, vaikka hieman paksumpaa.

After using the socks about one hour I realized those are too short, not much, but too short anyway. Since I did not have the Knitting Goddess yarn left - I had used all of those for these socks; I had to use something else. Wollmeise's color was the best though the yarn was a bit heavier.



Niin, jos jotakuta kiinnostaa, niin minä käytän omiin sukkiini 56 silmukkaa (2.0 mm puikoilla tehdessäni) ja varressa on kaikkien lisäysten jälkeen 92 silmukkaa. Ja siis aloitan omat sukkani kärjestä - muille teen varresta aloitettuja sukkia.

Perhaps I could mention I used 56 stitches for my socks (when using 2.0 mm / US 0 needles) and after all the increases on the leg I have 92 stitches. I start the socks from the toe, when knitting socks for myself. If I knit socks for someone else I start from the cuff & leg.

Zauberball

Kävinpä Lankaideassa hakemassa kaksi pitsipyöröä eli Addin 1.75 mm ja 2.0 mm - samalla reissulla tuli tehtyä heräteostos, joka oikeastaan jo kaduttaa. Ostin yhden kerän lankaa ja vasta kotona tajusin, että yhdestä kerästä en taida saada mieleiseni mittaisia polvisukkia ja jos ostan toisen kerän, niin suurin osa siitä jää ylitse. Jaa-a, täytyy miettiä, että keksisinkö tuolle jonkun kivan kaverin sukan kantapäähän/resoriksi vai pitääkö tuosta tehdä lahjasukat vai pitääkö pistää vahinko eli lankakerä kiertämään. :D



I visited Lankaidea, since I wanted to buy Addi's Lace circular needles in sizes US 00 (1.75 mm) and US 0 (2.0 mm). At the same time I made an impulse purchase and I already regret it a bit. I bought one skein of yarn and later on I realized it is not enough for knee socks and if I buy another skein then I will have plenty of leftovers. I have to think whether I have some other yarn which I can use for heel/rib or whether I will knit a pair of socks for someone else or whether I should hand this problem to someone else. :D

Growing UP tiskirätti / dishcloth

No, pitihän sitä tehdä pitkästä aikaa Monthly Dishcloth -ryhmän mysteerinä huhtikuun puolen välin tiskirätti. Ihan sievä. Suunnittelijaksi paljastui Janet Nogle ja rätin nimi on Growing UP.

I have not participated to Monthly Dishcloth KALs for a long time. However, this time I decided to knit Mid-April KAL and the result is quite nice. In the end they informed designer is Janet Nogle and the name of the cloth is Growing UP.

Jämälanka Petaleja / Leftover Petal Dishcloths

Tällä kertaa mallina Hazel Schrockin tiskirätti nimeltä Petal. Ensimmäisessä käytin kaikkia sekalaisia langanloppuja ja tein lohkoja.

So typical, I have just bought a fine set of circular needles and I'm knitting dishcloths using leftover yarns. Great!

This time the pattern is Hazel Schrock's Petal. I used several different leftovers for the first one.

Seuraavan tein kahdesta väristä siten, että neuloin aina yhdellä värillä 2 kerrosta. Ja tämä vaati jostain syystä 13 kärkeä 12 sijaan, jotta pystyin yhdistämään ne reunat.

I used two colors for the next one; I knitted 2 rows using white and then 2 rows using the variagated yarn. For some reason I had to knit 13 points instead of 12 to be able to join those two sides.

Jämälanka Ballbandeja / Leftover Ballband Dishcloths

Teinpä pari tiskirättiä jämälangoista. Toinen on erittäin jämälankamaisen näköinen, kun väri vaihtuu kesken rätin eli käytin tähän rättiin kaikki sytomyssyistä jääneet langanloput. Virkkasin reunuksen vähän leveämmäksi, jotta sain kaikki langanloput upotettua. Ja täytyy sanoa, että tämä on hyvä rätti - olen aina tehnyt noita paksumpia rättejä (worsted weight, puikkosuositus 4-5mm), kun niitähän joka puolella tehdään, mutta tämmöinen ohuempi rätti on kyllä minun käteeni sopivampi.

I knitted couple dishcloths using leftover yarns. Escpecially this first one looks like leftover dishcloth since I changed the color in the middle of the cloth; I used all the leftovers which I got after finishing those 5 Chemo Caps. I crocheted a wide border since I wanted to use all of the leftovers. I have to say this is a good dishcloth - I have always used worsted weight yarn (needle recommendation US 6-8), since everybody seems to use those; however, I noticed this is better for me since this lighter weight dishcloth is easier to handle.

Sitten tein toisenkin samanlaisen ja vaikka tämäkin on jämälangoista tehty, niin jämiä oli sen verran reilusti, että tämä näyttää ihan vartavasten sommiteltulta. Tässä muutin ohjetta sen verran, että loin kumpaankin reunaan yhden ylimääräisen silmukan eli 45 silmukan sijasta 47 silmukkaa. Rivin alussa nostin ensimmäisen silmukan nurin neulomatta ja rivin lopussa neuloin aina viimeisen silmukan oikein. Lopputuloksena reunaan tuli sellainen ketjusilmukkariviä muistuttava reuna, johon oli sitten helppo virkata reunus kiinteillä silmukoilla. Tämä muuten on minun makuuni hieman liian iso tiskirätti (26 x 26 cm), tämän paksuisella langalla joku 40 silmukan leveys taitaisi olla parempi.

I made another Ballband Dishcloth and though I used leftovers for this as well, I think it does not look like it, since I had enough both the variagated and white yarn for the whole cloth. I modified the pattern a bit; I casted on 47 stitches instead of 45. I slipped one stitch as if to purl in the beginning of each row and knitted one stich in the end of each row. As I result the borders looked like “chain stitches”. Due to that it was easy to crochet the border. In my opinion this dishcloth is too large (10" x 10"), I think something like 40 stitches might be enough.
