Sukkia jouluksi 3 / Socks for Christmas 3

Pikkasen olen jäljessä näiden blogitekstien kanssa, mutta joskohan nyt sitten tarinoisin seuraavista sukista. Kyseessä on miesten sukat kokoa 43-44. Tein nämä Novitan 7-veikasta, mutta koska en ollut varma, riittääkö lanka, niin päätin tehdä kaksiväriset sukat eli harmaata ja sinistä sekoitellen - vuorotellen yksi kerros kumpaakin.



I am a bit behind with these blog-posts, but here is the socks number 3. These are made for a man whose shoe size is about 43-44. I used Novita’s 7-veljestä yarn, but since I was not sure whether I have enough I used two different colours – mixing grey and blue by knitting one row with grey and then another with blue.


Lanka/Yarn: Novita 7-veljestä
Väri/Color: Harmaa ja sininen / Grey and blue
Määrä/Amount: 87 g (174.0 m / 190.2 yards) and 45 g (90.0 m / 98.4 yards)
Puikot/Needles: 3.5 mm / US 4

Sukissa käytetty kuvio on otettu Ilona Korhosen ja Jenni Östermanin Neulekirjasta. Tarkkaan ottaen kyseessä on Fitz-sukat (Ravelry-linkki). Tosin ohjeen mukaiset sukat on tehty ylhäältä alas - minä tein nämä alhaalta ylös eli ohjeesta käytin vain tuon kuvion.

I used the pattern from Ilona Korhonen’s & Jenni Österman’s Neulekirja –book. To be more specific; I used the pattern from Fitz-socks (Ravelry-link). The socks in the book are made top-down; since I made my socks toe-up I copied only the pattern.

Shedir

Ravelryssa oli yhdellä kanssaneulojalla syto-myssyn tarvetta, hän ei tarvitse sitä itselleen, vaan läheiselleen, mutta ymmärrettävistä syistä hän ei kokenut jaksavansa sitä neuloa. Lupauduin tekemään myssyn ja hänen ehdotuksestaan päädyin tekemään Jenna Wilsonin suunnitteleman Shedir-myssyn.



Tuntuu tässä yhteydessä vähän oudolta sanoa näin, mutta tätä oli mukava tehdä. Minähän en ole pahemmin myssyjä tehnyt, tätä ennen olen tehnyt tasan 5 myssyä Tampereen syto-myssy keräykseen ja ne kaikki olivat Angela Hahnin Beaufort-myssyjä. Koska tässä oli runsaasti palmikoita, niin tämä oli aivan erilainen tehtävä ja minähän en pahemmin ole palmikoita neuleissani harrastanut.



One of my Ravelry friends needed a chemo-cap; not for herself but for one of her close ones. She did not want to knit that cap by herself, which is quite understandable in that situation. I promised to knit it and I made Jenna Wilson’s Shedir.



In this case it sounds a bit strange to say I liked to knit this hat. I have knitted only 5 hats for Tampere University Hospital before this and those all were Angela Hahn’s Beaufort-hats. Shedir has lot of small cables; it was totally different kind of knitting for me - especially since I have not used lot of cables in my previous projects.

Puikot/Needles: 3.25 mm / US 3

Kaksi viimeistä kuvaa on tosi tummia, mutta niissä langan väri on lähinnä oikeaa. The last two pictures are really dark, but the yarn color is closest to correct one.

No, nyt sitten valmistui toinen pari. Tällä kertaa sain idean Ullassa olleista Silmäpakosäärystimistä. Tosin säärystimet on tehty puuvillalangasta ylhäältä alas ja minä tein nämä sukat villalangasta alhaalta ylös. Mutta, joka tapauksessa idean sain tuolta ja käytin hyväkseni ohjeessa kerrottuja silmukkamääriä, tosin tietty nurinkurisessa järjestyksessä. Jotta ei aivot ihan nyrjähtäisi, niin tein siitä itselleni hienon kaavion:

OK, now I have finished the second pair of socks. I used the Silmäpakosäärystimet –pattern from Ulla as a basis. There are some differences though; these legwarmers are made from top-down and the recommended yarn is actually cotton. I made the socks from toe-up using woollen yarn. However, I used e.g. all the stitch-counts explained in the pattern even though I had to use those in reverse order. Since I did not want to get totally confused I created the chart which is above.

As a result I got quite a nice socks in my opinion; by the way the model is approximately 60 years older than the one who will get these socks as a Christmas present. :D

Sukista tuli varsin hauskat, vai mitä? Mallina toimivasta henkilöstä on pakko sanoa, että hän on noin 60 vuotta vanhempi kuin hän, joka nämä sukat jouluna tulee saamaan. :D
