I knit shawls using charts and when following the row I used Post-it notes. Depending on the size of the chart I take couple of Post-it notes and insert them above the current row.
No, tuossa hommassa noita lappuja kuluu, koska pelkästään yhtä huivia tehdessä ne liimat kuluu pois ja pitää ottaa uusi satsi lappuja ja siinä yleensä sit on vaihe, jolloin ne laput putoileekin kesken kaiken, kun en ole vaihtanut niitä uusia riittävän ajoissa. Tämän lisäksi minua on hieman hämännyt se ajatus, että eikö tähän tosiaan ole olemassa jotain sellaista systeemiä, joka ei ois ihan noin kertakäyttöistä, mutta se ois silti toimivaa. Ratkaisuksi muodostui Pattern Timers.
This Post-it method requires quite a many Post-it per one shawl already, since the clue stops working after a while. Usually there is the annoying phase, when the notes drop every now and then, since I have not changed new notes early enough. In addition to that I have been feeling a bit guilty of using this kind of throwaway system instead of something durable. However, it should be functional as well. I thought the solution could be Pattern Tamers.
Ainakin parin illan kokeilun jälkeen se vaikuttaa varsin toimivalta ratkaisulta. Tosin pakettiin kuului nuo pari lyhyempää, joille ei todennäköisesti ole paljoa käyttöä, koska yleensä käytän A4:sta vaakana. Mä tilasin nuo Etsystä, mutta sen jälkeen huomasin, että niille tosiaan on ihan tuollainen web-kauppakin, missä oli huomattavasti enemmän vaihtoehtoja värien ja kuvioiden suhteen. Ei sillä, ihan ok tuo Measuring Tape on. Käyttökokemuksista sen verran, että se pysyy hyvin paikoillaan, seuraava rivi ei vilku sieltä alta ja siirtäminenkin on helppoa. Tosin epäilen, että jos olisi pelkkä paperi, niin se siirtäminen ois hankalampaa, mulla on tuo ohuesta pahvista tehty kotelo ja tuo Pattern Tamersin toinen puoli menee sen kotelon kannen alla ja toinen puoli paperin päällä.
After two evenings usage it seems to be a functional solution. However, the package included those two shorter ones; I assume I will not have usage for those, since usually I print the patterns using A4 landscape. I ordered those from Etsy, but after that I realized there is a special web-shop for those as well and it offers larger variety of colors and prints. The Measuring Tape is okay though. Couple of comments about the usage, it seems to stay in place and it hides the upper row correctly; I do not see any annoying bit and pieces about the coming row. It is easy to move as well, but I think, it would not be as easy if you use just the printed paper. I have this folder and there is both the paper and the folder’s cover between the Pattern Tamer.
Tuossa kuvassa tuo Pattern Tamers on hieman väärässä kohdassa, todellisuudessa laitan sen yleensä siten, että seuraava nurjakin kerros näkyy, jos nurjalla ei tehdä mitään kuviota. Eli yleensä peitän sen seuraavan kuviota sisältävän rivin.
Actually the Pattern Tamers is wrongly positioned in the picture. It should be above the wrong side row, since if there is not any pattern stitches on the wrong side row I do not hide it. I always hide the next pattern row.
